Verkhovyna - past and present
The alpine village of Zhabye in 1962 was renamed into an urban-type settlement. Verkhovyna. During this period, the future center of Hutsul culture was transferred to the possession of Vlad Dragosimovich by the Lithuanian prince Svidrigailo. According to local legends, the village got its name from the domination of a huge number of toads in the marsh area, such variants of the origin of the name are also known: the village was named after the first inhabitant of Verkhovyna Zhabka, or in the name of the Hutsul God of Fire.
In 1772, the village. Verkhovyna became part of Austria, after which it was liberated by the people. The independent highlanders showed themselves in participation in the movement of people's avengers, in organizing a popular veche, in the struggle for the liberation of the Sich Riflemen, in the ranks of the UPA.

A unique museum in Ivano-Frankivsk region in 2001 was organized by the virtuoso musician Roman Kumlik. Exhibit material was collected in about 30 years. These are household items, banknotes, tools of labor, Hutsul clothing and much more, which gives an idea of the life of the Hutsul people. The collection of rare musical instruments deserves special attention.
The excursions were conducted by the founder himself, and after his death, his daughter Natalya Guzak continues to conduct excursions and concerts for those who wish.

Museum-cheese factory "Khata-staya"
The museum was founded in 2014. Inside the hut you can see the museum inventory: old clothes and household items (towels, dishes, carpets and much more). There is a room for conducting master classes, which is called "Hutsul Svetlitsa". Here they teach how to cook local dishes, listen to drymba and learn the basics of weaving art.
An original place in the Khata Staya Museum is a specially equipped room in which to "simmer milk", as the locals say about making cheese. To organize this process, there are various inventory in the yard; pots, suspended over an open fire, barrels necessary for the preparation and storage of Hutsul feta cheese.
Hut Museum "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors"
On the outskirts of Verkhovyna, in the village of Zhabyevsky Potok, in an old house, there is a museum of the legendary film, which has won many international awards.
